Base Salary $96,491
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Child Nutrition Executive Director, this position’s responsibilities are to assist in monitoring, coordinating and implementing the Child Nutrition Services Program for the school district ensuring compliance with all USDA, federal and state policies, regulations, and procedures as well as ASD School Board policies and procedures. Essential Functions: • Create and conduct on the job training and orientation for Kitchen Managers and Assistant Cooks • Participate in establishing and implementing departmental procedures • Instruct staff in proper procedures • Assist with scheduling and staffing coordination for kitchens and office staff • Oversee food preparation as assigned • Directly supervise Elementary School Kitchen Managers • Assure that kitchens meet health department, OSPI, and USDA regulations • Open kitchens and respond to off-hours emergencies when needed • Assist with catering, food and supply ordering, and special events • Direct staff in online ordering, inventory control and use of USDA Commodity foods • Assist in evaluating school site food service programs for efficiency of operation, sanitation and safety, equipment needs, time management, accountability, inventory control, financial status and adherence to policies and procedures • Provide onsite training of POS system, end of day procedures • Serve as a member of the Wellness Committee • Model appropriate and cooperative behavior including protecting confidential information consistent with district policies and procedures • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned Required Qualifications: • Associate Degree in related field. Minimum of 5 years’ management experience working in institutional or commercial food service facility or related capacity. School District experience preferred. • Registered Dietitian or completion of CDR examination within 3 months of hire date preferred, or Certified Executive Chef preferred. • Excellent communication and analytical skills, knowledge of electronic meal programs. • Must be SNA certificated within 3 months of hire date. King County food handler card required.
Allowable substitutions Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the district may find appropriate and acceptable. Required Knowledge. Skills. andAbilities: Knowledge of: federal and state laws, rules, regulations and policies governing Child Nutrition programs; modern methods of food preparation and catering; product cost and inventory control; customer service and marketing; health codes and sanitation principles; nutritional requirements for children and adolescents; cultural and regional food and nutrition practices of population in South King County, ingredients and allergens; menu planning and development; and commercial food service equipment operation. Skills and Abilities: proficient in culinary production; personnel management; training of adults at all skill levels; ability to plan and prioritize tasks; ability to work positively as a team member; ability to value and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of the department and school district; ability to work effectively with little supervision; ability to communicate effectively with staff and administrators; ability to be flexible in a complex and fast paced work environment. Have a valid Washington State driver’s license; ability to lift 50 pounds.
